Kicking Teeth

now i’m not usually one for patent leather work shoes but these are something else. These bad boys are from London’s Fantich and Young called the Apex Predator shoes, whose soles have been covered with denture teeth:

Apex predators are predators with no predators of their own, residing at the top of their food chain. Materials: Savile Row Oxford Shoes, Size UK15, 1050 teeth dentures. Apex predators are predators with no predators of their own, residing at the top of their food chain.

“A conversation with my 12 year old self” (video)

I love this amazing video by Jeremiah McDonald. In the video he digs up a tape he recorded as a child 20 years ago, and has a conversation with the 12-year-old version of himself who once intoned to the video camera, “I think I’d like to talk to myself in the future.” Watch and enjoy!!

Whale shark eats all the fishes

Now these Whale sharks are wiley bastards if i don’t say so myself. From Boing Boing:

Clever whale sharks have figured out that fishing nets contain a lot of tasty fish. More importantly, they’ve figured out that they can suck those fish out of the net through holes in the net material.

The downside: When the sharks swim into fishing areas, looking for nets to suck, they can end up caught in the nets themselves. Conservation International took this video, showing why the sharks are hanging out around nets to begin with, as part of a series of videos documenting new net designs that can keep the fishies in and the whale sharks out.

A conversation with my 12 year old self

A great video by Jeremiah McDonald. For the video, he has found an old tape he recorded 20 years ago as a child, and then has had a conversation with the 12-year-old version of himself.

Rubber Bookshelf

If you’ve read the blog before at all you’ll know i like books and by proxy bookshelves and this one doesn’t disappoint either. Luke Hart has made this book shelf out of rubber which moulds itself around and book size which you care to put up on your shelf. At this rate my fictional house is just going to be one big bookshelf…

Homemade flying contraption powered by eight motorcycle engines

Now idiot youth springs to mind but as you can see from the picture he’s old enough to know better, definitely my kind of person then. From Boing Boing:

Local farmer Shu Mansheng starts the engines of his self-designed and homemade flying device before a test flight in front of his house in Dashu village on the outskirts of Wuhan, Hubei province September 21, 2011. The round steel flying device, which cost more than 20,000 yuan ($3,135), is the fifth model made by Shu, a junior middle school graduate. It measures around 5.5 meters (18 feet) in diameter, and is powered by eight motorcycle engines. Shu managed to hover for 10 seconds at about 1 metre (3.3 feet) above ground during a recent test flight. (REUTERS/Stringer)

Above, in August, he set up a propeller on the motorcycle engine of his self-designed and made flying device before the first test flight in front of his house. (REUTERS/Jason Lee)
