Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix by DJ Cheeba, DJ Moneyshot and DJ Food (DJ Mix)

Now i know this is two music posts in a row but this with this stunning mix from DJ Cheeba, DJ Moneyshot and DJ Food i just couldn’t wait and what the hey! It’s friday!! From the boys themselves:

Solid Steel in association with Serato (31st August) 3 years ago Solid Steel DJs Cheeba, Moneyshot and Food had the idea of collaborating on a version of the Beastie Boys‘ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album made entirely from the original sample sources, shortly after Moneyshot aired his mix of their ‘Check Your Head’ album in the same way.

Finally the result is here, titled ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’ – each of them have taken a third of the album to work on and combined their efforts into a mix that will make you hear it in a new way. Aside from the original sample sources they’ve included commentary from the Beasties, vintage interviews, demo versions and much more.

The mix was over half way completed when they heard the tragic news of MCA‘s death in May so the impetus to finish it was instantly doubled and new meaning given to the project. It goes without saying that this is also a tribute to Adam Yauch and the legacy he left behind and we hope it will be embraced by Beastie fans around the globe.

Caught In The Middle of A 3-Way Mix – a tribute to The Beastie Boys’ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album

Get listening!!

We Fear Silence @ Cable

Now this one looks like its going to be a bobby belter. We Fear Silence is hosting a night on the 15th of September at Cable with the likes of Phaeleh, Ikonika, Deadboy, Fantastic Mr Fox, RackNRuin, Randomer and Black Orange Juice Live. From We Fear Silence:

We Fear Silence steps out on its own to deliver a night showcasing the UKs finest bass-heavy talent. Bristolian dub don Phaeleh headlines the proceedings and with comments such as “best all-around producer in the game right now” being attached to the man, we know we’re in safe hands. Next up we welcome Hyperdub gal Ikonika and with her recent ‘I Make Lists’ EP (out on her own Hum + Buzz imprint) making huge waves, we’re hyped for this performance to say the least. The very Fantastic Mr. Fox, RackNRuin and Randomer round things off nicely. Add to this a highly regarded live show from Black Orange Juice and Loose Synths taking care of Room Two, this showcase is set to be badass.

This mix celebrates the release of his new album ‘Contrast’ mixing up tracks from the album alongside music from Foreign Beggars, The Revolutionaries, Rusko and Slugabed in his own inimitable style.
DK continues with a vaguely sporting related mix to end the show featuring Gil Scott-Heron and Baby Huey on the Athletics track, Oh No Ono and Arthur Russell in the Aquatics centre and John Klemmer on top of the podium.

WHAT ABOUT BOB? by Bryx (DJ Mix)

I’ve had this mix on my MP3 player for a while now and i have to say its a firm favourite. From Bryx:

Got Inspired to make this mix after sitting in bed sick as hell going thru old VHS tapes and finding a Bob Ross – Joy Of Painting Episode. Needless to say i fell in love with Bob Ross.. and decided to make this as a throw back to him.. The mix turned out to be the the exact length of a Joy of Painting episode.. Yea!
Hope you enjoy!

If you’ve never seen Bob Ross before check out the video below and bathe in his dulcet tones:
