From Super Soaker to Solar Power

What does the Atlantis space shuttle, the B-2 stealth bomber and a Super Soaker have in common? The answer is one man, Lonnie Johnson. If all this isn’t enought Johnson has now created a unique heat engine called the Johnson Thermoelectric Energy Converter or JTEC, which some say could revolutionize the energy industry and this can only be a good thing.

Modern solar cells can convert about 20% of the energy they gather into electricty, whilst the top of the range solar can convert about 30%. Johnson’s JTEC system will hopefully be able to double that due to no moving parts and produces little if any waste, which if it can do this will be able to compete with coal as a viable energy source. As you can imagine this is getting quite a few people very excited.
